Wow... again... Optimism takes another loss. Just keep rubbing that salt in. I'm almost used to it by now.

Wow... didn't realize it had been this long of a time since I'd written anything here. I've been back in Taekwondo regularly for the past three weeks. It would appear that I've met someone new through the school. She's a very unique and interesting person. It feels different this time. Maybe it does every time, but putting my cynical nature aside, this feels better than it has in the past... Here's to one last fit of optimism.

Pretty much the same as yesterday, only did 25 minutes though. I was in a bit of a rush this morning. I'm still just dragging ass. I just don't know what's going on.

I managed to get up and do 30 minutes on the treadmil this morning. The last few days have been pretty worthless. I haven't woken up in time for class much less working out. My alarms didn't go off yesterday. I had 5 of them set. They were all still set when I woke up 45 minutes into my first class. It's happened before, I dunno if it's a bug with my phone or what. Anyways, I'm trying some new stuff. We'll see if it helps.

I took today off running. My leg was kinda bothering me all day. I spent most of the day getting my place back as clean as it should be and doing some minor maintenance. We'll see how I feel about running tomorrow. I'm not feeling quite as driven as I was before I got hurt. It kinda sapped my energy.

Well... after a few days off and some swimming and walking, I ran my two miles again today. My leg was a little sore afterwards, but not too bad. I ran it in 17:40, so not too bad at all. I'm amazed that I managed to shave off more time after not running for almost a week. Guess the swimming and walking was worth it. :) I'll prolly swim tomorrow to give my leg a break, then back to running on Sunday.

Turns out that run the other day was a bad idea. I almost couldn't walk for the rest of the day. So yesterday I went to the OU Pool and swam. That convinced me just how out of shape I am more than anything else. One lap of side stroke and I was done. However, I was encouraged by the fact that I could swim a length underwater. I'll be swimming every morning until my calf gets better. Eventually, I'd like to be in good enough shape to do a triathlon. My thoughts are to run (or swim for now) until I get my weight back down under 210 then start doing more strength and endurance training. I got my first judging chevron in Taekwondo last night. I'm now certified to be a corner judge for a color belt ring at a tournament. Now I just have to get back in shape and ready to actually *go* to a tournament.

I finally made myself run after several days of not being able to. I don't know that it was a particularly good idea, but I did it. I compromised with my common sense and only ran 1 mile instead of my usual 2. Didn't have a terrible time for being out of shape and after several days off: 8:27. That being said, it REALLY needs to be back down under 7:30, and preferably under 6:30. I've got a ways to go, but at least I'm trying to get there.

The run time of the day is 40 seconds.... that's right.... 40 SECONDS. That would be because that's how long I made it before I had to quit because of pain in my calf. Didn't hurt a bit while I was warming up. I kept the hot pack on it until right before I ran. I stretched gently but thoroughly. I got to my starting line feeling great, started running, and after 20 seconds started doing the "uhoh... That's not good... I shouldn't be running on this... SHUT UP and run... this is going to make things worse... RUN... I can't, DAMMIT!" So now I'm sitting here icing it and wondering how long this is going to keep me from running. I've lost 7 lbs since I started running on 10/27 so I'm at least getting closer to my goal by Christmas, but I don't know what I'm going to do if I can't run...

Well... I made some more progress today, not much though. I made the two mile loop in 17:56 and only because I sprinted the last 150 yards or so. But hey, it's three seconds faster than my best so far this week. On the other hand, I'm starting to think I did something very unhappy to my left calf. It hurts like hell. I think I'm going to take tomorrow off from running. I'll go to the gym and lift weights or something, but I think I have to stay off this leg as much as possible. On an entirely different note, I'm thinking about changing this front page to a WordPress page. We'll see if I get around to it.

I can't believe it's November already. What happened to this year? I got a late start today. My alarm didn't go off for some reason. It was still set for the correct time when I woke up almost an hour after it should have gone off but was just quietly sitting there. Dunno. Anyways, I just got back from running and I definitely like runing in the morning better. I ran my two miles in 18:30 this afternoon. Slower, but since I managed to pull my calf muscle yesterday, not terrible.

More progress! I ran the two miles in 17:59 today. That's an improvement of 39 seconds over yesterday. I'll be hitting that plateau before too long though. :-D

FINALLY!! I'm getting back in shape!! I ran my two miles this morning in 18:38. I'm not setting any personal records just yet, but by god it feels good to be making progress at least. I've worked out 4 days, and already my 2 mile time is down from 21:32 the first day. Now I just have to beat my personal record of 12:55. :) It will be fun to get back to that point.
